73-hectare mountain lake

Lake Plansee in the Tyrolean Außerfern region is the second-largest lake in Tyrol and a popular destination for cyclists. The route around the lake runs primarily on well-maintained cycle paths and narrow side roads, mostly flat and with very scenic scenery. Cyclists enjoy the deep blue water, surrounded by forested slopes and the majestic mountains of the Ammergau Alps. Numerous viewpoints invite you to take a break, and at several points there are opportunities for a refreshing swim or a picnic on the shore. The route is suitable for both leisurely cyclists and sporty riders and combines nature experiences, relaxation, and an impressive Alpine backdrop in one of Tyrol's most beautiful regions.

Lake Plansee is a scenic lake that's perfect for a bike ride. A leisurely tour around the lake leads mostly along paved paths through forests and meadows, with magnificent views of the Ammergau and Lechtal Alps. Along the shore, there are natural bays for swimming and inns for refreshments. For more energetic cyclists, the tour can easily be extended to the neighboring Heiterwanger Lake, allowing for additional viewpoints and sights to be explored in the surrounding area.
