Old Town Hill is a 151-foot hill in Newbury. From the top of this costal hill, you get fantastic, panoramic views of the Great Marsh and New Hampshire's Isle of Shoals. There are several popular hiking trails in the area that you can make into various loops.

Red Rock is the name of the largest granite dome in the Red Rocks Conservation area and stands at 230 feet above sea-level. From this bare rock summit, you get views through the trees of Gloucester, Rockport, and the ocean. On Red Rock and the surrounding granite walls and boulders you can frequently see rock climbers on spring, summer, and early fall days. The rock quality that made Gloucester and Rockport major quarrying towns also draw rock climbers who enjoy what is considered by some to be the best top-roping (climbing with the rope anchored above you) in eastern Massachusetts. When exploring the summit you might come across some climbing anchors. Please keep a safe distance from the edge and do not touch these anchors, someone below you might be relying on them for their lives!

The summit of Thompson Mountain sits on a smooth, bare granite outcropping on the northwestern end of the Thompson Street Reservation. From the 154 foot summit, you can see over the trees to the ocean and across the forested Reservation. This is a great place to rest, eat a snack, and snap a few photos before continuing on your hike.

Mount Ann is a large summit made from a smooth, bare granite slabs, just across the highway from Red Rocks. Surrounded by a thick white pine, oak, maple, beech, birch, and hemlock forest, this open summit is a great place to take some photos, and sip some water.

Great views from here but steep climb

Very peaceful stop with Osprey viewing platform. Short walk off the road on well-maintained boardwalk.
