A truly amazing canyon, easily accessible from Chico. In spring, it's a wildflower explosion. There are several trails. Long pants are a plus, as there are rattlesnakes. It's still worth it!!
North Table Mountain Ecological Reserve is a 3,300-acre reserve with geological features that were created by basaltic lava flows millions of years ago.
Frog Spring is a great flowing water source. Don’t camp here, you are in the middle of the burn zone with dead trees that can fall any time. A safe zone is just 1 mile ahead.
This area has been hit badly by the Dixie wildfire in 2021. You walk through ashes and somewhat suspicious trees, so be careful in this sad, but impressive area.
