Mullan sits at 3,278 feet above sea level in a sheltered canyon of the Coeur d’Alene Mountains, six miles from the Montana border. Downtown has historic architecture and mining relics, including the Morning Club building and the Captain John Mullan Museum.

Kellogg is nestled in Idaho’s Silver Valley, at the foothills of the Bitterroot and Kootenai ranges. The town was built during the late 1800s mining boom and named after Noah Kellogg. Popular activities in Kellogg include visiting Silver Mountain Resort, mountain biking, hiking, playing disc golf, taking a gondola ride, and exploring nearby waterways.

This bridge over the South Fork Coeur d'Alene River is one of the few scenic bridges along the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes, giving views of pine forests and the river below.

The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes passes under I-90, where this overpass can serve as shade for some bikers or shelter in a rainstorm. It is not uncommon for the northern Rockies to see quick changes in weather.

The Coeur d'Alene River stretches 37 miles and is popular for fly fishing, white-water rafting, and river floating. The Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes skirts the edge of the river, making it a great spot to enjoy the water's edge.

In 2004, the Mayor proclaimed the city of Wallace, Idaho to be the center of the universe (because it can’t be proven otherwise). Today, a manhole cover represents the exact spot of the Center of the Universe, and it is celebrated yearly by the citizens of Wallace. The entire town of Wallace, Idaho is on the National Register of Historic Places. The 1997 movie Dante's Peak, starring Pierce Brosnan was filmed in Wallace. Two pristine mountains, Silver Mountain and Lookout Mountain are both within 10 miles of Wallace. Hundreds of miles of road and trail riding, including five nationally recognized trails (Trail of the Coeur d’Alenes, Northern Pacific, Route of the Hiawatha, Milwaukee Scenic and Centennial Trail)
