Japanese Gulch is a fantastic outdoor haven away from the city. You can explore different loops until you find the perfect one for a short or extended run amidst the park's lush green forest, which provides a beautiful natural backdrop. The west side has a lengthy and winding trail around the plateau's top, and the east side is mainly composed of climbing trails, with some great inclines available in different areas. The area is also a popular spot for mountain biking, so be aware of others passing by.

The trail is very steep and power-hikey up until this point, where it mostly levels out until you reach Big Greider Lake. Little Greider Lake is a great spot for camping, and the views are dramatic as the trail skirts between the two peaks. There is a camp along the lake.

Bridal Veil Falls is a beautiful waterfall that roars down a 100-foot rock face, sliding off of granite slabs and tumbling onto the rocks and Bridal Veil Creek down below. There are stairs running along the side that lead up to a small spectating spot. You may want a jacket on windy days as there is quite a lot of mist that can blow over.

You will likely want microspikes in early spring to make it to the lake. The views are stunning, and in summer you can jump in to cool off.

Gunn Peak is the highest point of Wild Sky Wilderness, with a summit elevation of 6240'. The mountain is also the 29th-most prominent peak in Washington. The mountain is fairly isolated, with the next highest peak being located over 10 miles away. The summit offers a complete 360 degree panoramic view. This trail does have a good bit of scrambling through boulder fields and a small catwalk prior to the summit. Good shoes and a downloaded route are recommended. This route is suitable to very experienced hikers and should only be take up by people who have done similar summits. Warning: Past the lakes, the trail becomes more difficult to follow. At the base of the talus slope before the summit, cairns mark your way. The Walt Bailey Trail is mostly through meadows, except for a short, rocky, exposed section at the summit that can be steep at times. The best months to hike are June, July, August, September, and October, but weather can change at any time, so be prepared with the essentials and be ready to turn around in bad weather as an exposed peak can be risky. It is said that between Little Greider like and Big Greider Lake, Little Greider has the better camping. Keep hiking on south for half a mile to Big Greider Lake.
