From an elevation of 3,795 ft, Thunder Hill Overlook gives you a 180° panorama over the Piedmont Mountains.

A really worthwhile hiking destination. You have to be careful on the rocks though so you don't slip.

The overlook boasts a pretty big parking area (no picnic tables, though) and a wide open view. The Blue Ridge Parkway crosses a bunch of creeks and rivers as it makes its way through the states of Virginia and North Carolina. This pull-off allows you to walk down to the banks of Goshen Branch, which the parkway follows for several miles.
