Coast Guard Beach - 갑자기 고요해지는 길 산악자전거 타는 사람으로서 저는 풍경 속으로 구불구불 이어지는 길, 모든 마일을 느낄 수 있게 하는 오르막, 그리고 긴 라이딩 후 멈춰서 풍경을 감상하는 특별한 순간을 좋아합니다. Coast Guard Beach는 바로 그런 곳입니다. 정복할 정상도 없고 심장을 뛰게 할 가파른 내리막도 없습니다. 그럼에도 불구하고 풍경은 숨 막힐 듯 아름답습니다. 대서양 바람, 파도 소리, 끝없는 모래 언덕, 그리고 산들바람에 부드럽게 흔들리는 해변 풀. 모든 것이 탁 트이고 평화로우면서도 생명력으로 가득 차 있습니다. 그곳에 서서 바다를 바라보면 갑자기 속도, 마일, 고도가 더 이상 중요하지 않게 느껴집니다. 어쩌면 그래서 제가 이런 곳을 사랑하는지도 모릅니다. 제게 산악자전거 타기는 결코 가능한 한 빨리 어딘가에 도착하는 것에 관한 것이 아니었습니다. 풍경을 경험하고, 바람을 느끼고, 좀 더 오래 머물고 싶게 만드는 장소를 발견하는 것에 관한 것입니다. Coast Guard Beach is located in Eastham, Massachusetts, and is one of Cape Cod National Seashore’s most popular destinations. Known for its stunning views and expansive sandy shores, it is a favorite among locals and visitors for swimming, sunbathing, and surfing. Visitors can enjoy birdwatching and explore the nearby Nauset Marsh Trail. During the summer, shuttle services provide access from the Salt Marsh Visitor Center due to limited parking.

Coast Guard Beach is a popular swimming beach during the summer season. Further south along the coast is Nauset Spit, where the ocean water flows into the Nauset Marsh during the tides. This is where writer Henry Beston lived in a beach house when he wrote The Outermost House in 1928. Lighthouse built in 1857. The oldest and tallest lighthouse on Cape Cod. Very well preserved and maintained.

Here on the Cape Cod Bay side of the Cape, the waves are gentler and the water temperatures are slightly warmer than on the Atlantic.

The area around Fort Hill was reclaimed by the Pilgrim settlers after 1644 and used for agriculture until the 1940s. The forest was cleared and the wetlands drained. Dairy farming was carried out on the meadows. The settlers extracted salt from the beach using a complex process. Skiff Hill is the site of a 20-ton granite boulder that was used by Native Americans to sharpen tools. The boulder was moved from its original location in the marsh to the hill in 1965. The site is now underwater.
