Hiking boots and good physical fitness

At the entrance to the city of Baeza, a beautiful fountain-trough still stands. It was once used to provide water for animals arriving after farming tasks, quenching their thirst at the trough. We're at the beginning of the Osera trail, where the sign announces and informs us of the difficulty of the route, as well as the distance and elevation gain. We're also advised to be properly equipped with hiking shoes and appropriate clothing. However, there are always people who venture onto the trail without these precautions, and they obviously have a hard time. As a cyclist, I don't recommend doing this on a bike for many reasons, including the steep gradient and the technical difficulty required for this route. However, it's advisable to bring a camera or mobile phone to take photos, as it is spectacularly beautiful.

The Aguascebas Reservoir, also known as the Aguaderondo Reservoir, is located in the municipality of Villacarrillo. This reservoir was built between 1967 and 1969 on the streams of Aguascebas de la Fuente del Tajo and Aguascebas de Chorro Gil. The natural surroundings of the reservoir are impressive, with a karst landscape that includes waterfalls and a rich flora and fauna. Pine forests and riverside vegetation predominate among the vegetation, while common and rainbow trout can be found in its waters.

It is an ancient spring located at the entrance to the city, which served as a watering hole for animals returning or leaving for agricultural tasks. Nowadays it is almost a testimony of the past and although it has the sign of untreated water! It is natural water from a spring and therefore does not contain chlorine, which does not naturally mean that it cannot be drunk.

In the Plaza de la Constitución or the market, as it is also known, is this fountain formed by a huge obelisk on which you can read the inscription from 1868, the year it was inaugurated.

The name does not really honor the place, because it is an area where a small water reservoir is produced, "without oil" 🤭 but it is an ideal area for bathing and resting. From there begins an endless climb towards one of the most beautiful areas of the mountains: the refuge of La Parra
