Beautiful trail with some ups and downs. Fun and manageable.

Former hunting lodge, then monastery and elderly care facility and currently (2022) campus for international sports talent. Huis Watersley was built in the mid-18th century as a hunting lodge for the Maastricht family Loyens-Delhougne. In 1876, it passed to a German monastic order and was sold shortly afterwards to a Franciscan Order, who extensively renovated the building to establish a grammar school. In the centuries that followed, Huis Watersley was further expanded and added to, until the Paulus Foundation (later Stichting Pergamijn) housed care for people with intellectual disabilities in the stately building in 1967, after which they also decided to sell it again after a merger. Finding a new purpose for the 30-hectare site, which includes the former monastery with monastery chapel, various homes and an apartment building, was not easy, but with the establishment and expansion of an international campus for sports talent, the beautiful domain has found a future again. On the estate you will find challenging and beautiful MTB trails.

t'Sweeltje was essentially created as a shifting dune ridge on the low terrace of the Maas towards the end of the 1st Ice Age. The path is accordingly hilly and undulating. The firm sandy surface is very pleasant to walk on. Also ideal for creating a new obstacle-free, winding trail to be created in autumn 2023 - optimally tailored to the needs of mountain bikers.

A wonderful route through the forest where you can train your calves. Beware of exposed tree roots on the path.

Due to the very loose soil, especially after a long period of drought, beginners will sometimes have to push here. I didn't really like driving along the fence all the time either.
