Pleasant trails through the marsh. There are several ferry crossings along the way, making for a lovely stroll. The visitor center is open from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The loops (boot trail + boardwalk) total 3.8 km.

The six-meter-high Oudemirdumerklif formed during the penultimate ice age, when Scandinavian ice sheets pushed up the land, leaving boulders in their wake. The Zuiderzee's wave action ultimately formed three cliffs in Gaasterland. The site is home to some 200 plant species. Badgers and numerous waterfowl also live here.

Beware! Here you can encounter dead animals. Piece of nature where wild animal carcasses are returned to nature and meat eaters.

We visited the beautiful town of Sloten in 2016 and 2017! During our houseboat tour in 2022 we decided to skip Sloten and discover something else instead. In 2023 it was finally time again and we went to Sloten. The "Kibitz" fountain is actually really beautiful, elaborate and spectacularly made and the story behind it is also moving. Unfortunately, the location is not really idyllic, the Sloten fountain "Kibitz" is surrounded by parking lots and streets. Actually, Sloten has such beautiful places, I would have put the fountain somewhere else.

In addition to the air watch tower, there are even more beautiful things to admire. There is a boulder that has been in the IJsselmeer for years. At a meeting of the Oudemirdum Recreation Foundation it was discussed that the thick boulder in the sea near the Hege Gerzen actually had to be removed, because children regularly injured themselves on the stone in the summer. The stone was in the swimming area. Before the stone was brought to the surface, an inspection was carried out, which revealed that the stone was located approximately 150 meters from the coast. There was approximately 1.10 meters of water at the site. The top of the stone was approximately 25 cm. below the water surface. There was an indentation of 3 cm at the top of the stone. The notch was probed with a prod, the stick disappeared by 40 to 50 cm. in the stone. There appeared to be a break in it. After recovery, the stone was weighed. The base weighed 4,760 kg. and the top part turned out to be 4,480 kg. to weigh. So a total of 9,240 kg. The stone was then placed on the pedestal.

Closed on Monday. Otherwise, this is the starting point for boat tours through the national park. Lots to discover for children.
