Just a few minutes from Olofström lies Halen, the largest lake in Blekinge. And honestly, Halen isn't a lake you'd just pass by. It's the largest in all of Blekinge, covering over 3 square kilometers, and it feels like every bay has a new story to tell. Part of the lake—and especially the wild surroundings—belongs to the Halen Nature Reserve, which stretches over a whopping 700 hectares. Or even more, depending on where you start—because the northern part was added later, bringing the total area to around 800 hectares of true natural adventure. What awaits you here? Forest, water, expanse. Pine trees on rocks, small islands in the shimmering lake, hidden shore spots where you can dangle your feet in the water. And right in the middle of it all: you. Whether paddling, hiking, or simply marveling.

This is an absolutely fantastic spot, as the reserve isn't overcrowded. Here you can enjoy the peace and quiet and, if the time is right, watch black grouse in the moor.

Next to the small bench is an information board about the island with details about the settlement at that time. Stone walls from this period can still be seen on the island itself.

The island in the moor was reclaimed in 1780 and was then inhabited for about 100 years.

A really impressive place. The view over the open space is really recommended. The route there is also worth a visit.

Isternäset NR is an old nature reserve and shelter of various biotopes with varied avifauna of the Kristianstad region as the main town of Vattenrike. In spring, a regular visit to the viewing platform newly created in 2021 is worthwhile as long as the landscape in question carries a lot of water. Plenty of migrating waterfowl! Bring binoculars! Unfortunately, there is much less to see here in autumn.

Located directly on the country road, I couldn't find a stop off the roadside (?). But maybe I overlooked it. In any case, the board with explanations is right on the country road. The grass had grown quite tall. Made the impression of a fenced meadow with a pile of stones in it for me.
