St. Mary Magdalene Church in Lauenhagen is a significant building in the district of Schaumburg, Lower Saxony, and belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Schaumburg-Lippe. It was first documented in 1253 and has undergone numerous structural changes over the centuries. It acquired its present form around 1500, when it was enlarged and redesigned. Despite its long history and several alterations, the church's original character has been largely preserved. The building is constructed of rubble masonry and exhibits the typical style of a late medieval hall church. The square west tower with its copper-covered pyramidal roof, which was renewed in 1968, is particularly striking. A historic bell from 1493, still in use today, hangs in the tower. Inside, the church impresses with its ribbed vaulting, which rests on sturdy buttresses, and its ornate Renaissance pulpit, decorated with figurative heads and delicate foliage. This pulpit is one of the church's most valuable furnishings. In addition to its historical features, St. Mary Magdalene's Church also incorporates modern elements. During a renovation in 2007, the chancel was redesigned and extended with an apse. The church received a winged altarpiece by the Leipzig artist Werner Petzold, which impressively combines traditional and contemporary forms. The church is not only a listed building, but above all a vibrant center for the Lauenhagen parish, which also includes the villages of Hülshagen and Nienbrügge. Services, concerts, and community events are held here regularly. The parish maintains a lively church life with a brass band, a church choir, active youth groups, and a women's group. The community center also includes the "Zwergenburg" (Dwarf Castle) kindergarten, which offers childcare and playgroups for families. The church attracts many visitors, especially during the Christmas season, when the intricately carved nativity scene by the South Tyrolean artist Georg Lanzinger is displayed. Even outside of church services, the church is often open and invites visitors to quiet contemplation or sightseeing.

Former moated castle, late medieval residential tower with Renaissance additions and extensions, stair tower, two-storey, low, rectangular office building with hipped roof In 1407 the settlement was granted town charter, in 1650, under Hessian rule, and is the smallest town in Lower Saxony. A fire in 1863 that destroyed the entire town was only survived by the town hall and the castle, which still has individual components from the Middle Ages (tower) and the 16th and 17th centuries (caryatid portal). What's exciting about this vantage point isn't necessarily the view itself, as the small town of Wiedensahl is only faintly visible, but rather its historical connection to a celebrity: Wilhelm Busch grew up in Wiedensahl and made many drawings from his surroundings. That's probably exactly where he stood when he wrote down his view of his birthplace on paper.

On October 15, 1946, Friedrich Hitzemann was shot on the road to Pollhagen. He was on his bike to Pollhagen around 7 p.m. and was probably murdered by former Polish or Russian prisoners of war. His bike and his body, shot in the stomach, were found on the street the next day. His valuables were still there, only his ID was missing. Unfortunately, there will be no further information about this incident on site.

The Heidmühle was first mentioned in 1465. It was only abandoned in 1976. In the meantime there was always competition between the Heidmühle and the Stadthäger Mühlen. In the meantime, the owner complained about privileges that other mills had. Meanwhile, they complained about the privileges of the Heidmühle. The mill can be visited externally, but it is actually on private property.
