Heimeli Mountain Inn, Sapün, Langwies The Heimeli is a house steeped in history. A house full of life and adventure. History tells us that the Heimeli has been an inn since 1907. What we do know is that Agnes Engel came to the Heimeli as a young girl back then, because she was supposed to take the waters in the mountain air. So, there was already something like an inn at that time. The Heimeli only truly became an inn in the 1920s. Much from that era would have long since been forgotten had Agnes not recorded it in her little book. In "At the Foot of the Chüpfenflue," Agnes Engel writes about her time at the Heimeli. She writes about the 200-year-old Walser house, which she wanted to care for and turn into a hotel. She writes about building permits and the problems that come with a renovation at this altitude, about issues concerning water and electricity – just like today. It's simply fantastic here, both the views and the food (a bit upscale, but reasonably priced).

What a wonderful place. When hunger starts to set in on a long hike and you're hoping for a place to eat, you picture a place like this. I really enjoyed my lunch break there.

A challenging climb with beautiful scenery and virtually no motorized traffic. However, it's only partially recommended for road bikes, as it's a dead end and the ruts in the concrete on the descent are annoying and spoil the fun.

Kiosk closed. Apparently already winterized. 🙉🤷‍♂️

Strela Pass 2346 m A wide, grassy pass from Davos to the Haupter Tälli. The pass is dominated to the east by the Gross Schiahorn and to the west by the 2636-meter-high Strela. The Strela Pass has been one of the classic Walser routes since the 14th century.
