Castell de sa Punta de n'Amer, the history During the 16th century, the need for guarded coasts arose when pirates from North Africa and the Ottoman Empire constantly attacked Mallorca. However, the final decision to build this fortress was not made until a violent attack took place in 1611, causing serious damage to the east coast.
