The Arenal de l'Almortxó is a municipal natural area located in the northwest of Petrer, in the province of Alicante. It is a truly unique site due to its geology and biodiversity, and stands out as the largest active inland sandbank in the Iberian Peninsula.

Great views and when the wind blows, it really blows. It is worth the effort and the reward is a good lunch with great views.

The Geodetic Vertex of La Capilla is a geographical reference point that marks an exact position on the ground. These vertices are used to construct topographic maps and establish precise coordinates.

I had never been to the area because it does not have much visual appeal, since there are hardly any trees and the vegetation is bushes and esparto grass. But the two climbs we did, to Alto de Cámara and Bolón, were short but quite demanding and I did like them.

El Pocico Alonso is a small fountain that has been the subject of attention and restoration over the years. After decades of abandonment, it was rebuilt by residents of the area, hikers and, finally, the Community of Irrigators of Elda and the Environment Department of this town.
