In Buendía (Cuenca), there are several options for motorhome owners, especially the Buendía Motorhome Park, also known as the “La Veguilla” Service Area.

Free access tourist route located near the municipality of Buendía, Cuenca, among pine forests, sandstone stones abound. Here you will find the Ruta de las Caras, a hiking route of a couple of kilometers in which you will be accompanied by pine trees and allegorical sculptures. Faces sculpted in sandstone rock of different sizes, some spectacular, with dimensions of four and six meters, which took eight years to sculpt due to the hardness of the rock.

Such a sacred monument shows the faithful devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, which was once deeply rooted in popular piety. This tradition can be traced back three and a half centuries in church history, but is probably even older. The arms of Jesus, often spread wide on these statues, are not meant to remind us of the crucified Christ, but rather to represent an invitation to the loving embrace of the Son of God.

It is an impressive landscape, to the right and left, that can be seen from this summit of the Sierra de La Santa Cruz. The highest area is Pico San Cristóbal, whose Geodesic we also photographed.

The Mirador de la Cruz de Los Borrachos has an interesting legend. According to locals, many years ago, a group of good friends gathered at this place to enjoy the panoramic views. These friends were known for their love of nature and their penchant for sharing stories and laughter while taking in the scenery. At one of those meetings, a strange traveler joined the group. He had a peculiar appearance and a deep look. Friends noticed that he was wearing a carved wooden cross on his neck. The traveler told them that the cross had a special power: to grant a wish to whoever touched it. Intrigued, the friends took turns touching the cross. Some asked for love, others for wealth, and some simply desired health and happiness. The traveler smiled and warned them that the wishes had to be sincere and disinterested. Legend says that, since then, those who visit the Mirador de la Cruz de Los Borrachos and touch the cross with a pure heart, see their wishes fulfilled. Some claim to have experienced significant changes in their lives after visiting this place. So if you ever find yourself there, don't hesitate to touch the cross and make a wish. Who knows, maybe the magic of the legend will come true for you too. 🌟🙏

The Mirador de la Cruz de Los Borrachos is a place that offers spectacular views in the Buendía region, Castilla-La Mancha.
