One of the emblematic mountains of the area.

As it passes through the surroundings of the town of Espinosa de los Monteros, natural pools are formed in the Trueba river where locals and also visitors take advantage of the summer months to take a bath and cool off.

It is highly recommended to fill the canteen here, as well as see the information panel.

Ilso de las Estacas is a mountain 1037 meters high. The top is marked with a curious coffee pot on a pole and a booth. It offers magnificent views of the surrounding mountains and green valleys.

Zalama is a mountain 1343 meters high. A few meters from the top there is a stone monolith where you can read: "Merindad de Montija, year 1886". At this point the borders of three provinces converge: Vizcaya, Burgos and Cantabria. Also close to the top is a peculiar and very scarce plant community today, the peat bog, a community of mosses and liverworts that takes root on a soil that is almost always flooded.

In this area of the valley, at its bottom, the Río Trueba passes through the town of Espinosa de los Monteros. Along the river there are a set of natural pools originating from the river itself and which are used in summer by the inhabitants of the area.

Both the waterfall and the environment that surrounds it are simply wonderful. Easily accessible, this waterfall is a waterfall of about 70 meters with a natural pool at its feet. A true paradise that deserves to be visited at any time of the year, although it is recommended in spring-summer.

Very well restored this fountain, although it would have been more exciting to find it later!
