Magnificent walk through the old water channels

The Canales de Padules, between the Sierras de Gádor and Sierra Nevada, are a natural jewel in the Alpujarra of Almería. This stretch of the Andarax River, recognized as a Natural Monument, offers a landscape of pools and waterfalls. Part of the Three Towns Trail, the route reveals ancient grapevines and remains of mills, providing a refreshing experience next to the moderate flow of the river. Las Canales de Padules are a refuge of peace and authenticity, defying the conventional expectations of Almería.

From almost 2,300 meters above this point, the views are unbeatable. Some days you are even above the clouds and a dream landscape is created.

It is at this point that the hydroelectric plant receives its name since several ditches coincide with the river at this point.

Beautiful waterfall hidden near the path that runs through the Abrucena holm oak grove. Only in the rainy season can you enjoy this wonderful waterfall and take the opportunity to cool off after a good climb.

The path through the Abrucena holm oak offers an incredible variety of ravines of great natural beauty. The entire area is included within the Network of Protected Natural Areas of Andalusia, with the figures of Sierra Nevada Natural and National Park.

The Andarax river is born in a town very close to Padules, this town is Laujar de Andarax. This well-known river in our province passes through Padules and its section is a route full of nooks, falls, pools and canyons. All this route receives the name of Los Canales de Padules.

This waterfall is very close to the road. It does not usually have water all seasons of the year.
