Reasonably easy walk and great view from tower that contributes mid journey to being refreshed.

The Cotswold Way path is easy to lose at the crest of the hill at the entrance to the Broadway Tower property, as it takes a right angle turn to head toward Broadway along the stone wall and across the fields or, going the opposite direction, toward Chipping Campden down the rocky path.

The views from the top of the hill on the approach to the Long Barrow are well worth the calf and thigh burning walk up the steep path. Magnificent landscape.

My best tip to best experience Dover's Hill is by starting at the car park and walk along the Cotswold Way. A walk down into Chipping Campden is also worth a few additional miles.

Woohoo, you've made it to the top of Dover's Hill! Catch your breath and enjoy delightful views over Gloucestershire from this scenic hilltop.

Belas Knap is a neolithic long barrow managed by English Heritage. The Cotswold Way national trail runs right past the entrance.

Really cool site - a Neolithic long barrow at the top of the hill, with a plaque detailing some history. Estimated to have been built in 3000 BC. Fairly easy to access from the pull in on Charlton Abbots road, or if you don't fancy the climb go straight on instead of following the road round to the left just before the parking.

Worth the bloody long hill climb from Broadway either I'm unfit or there are some really fit 80 year olds who put me to shame

Broadway Tower, at the intersection of a few well kept and popular footpaths, is free to look at, but a ticket is required to go inside. When you're sweaty from the run up the steep hill to get there, everyone will be glad you don't have a ticket!

Broadway Tower is a unique castle in a breathtaking location. At 1,024 feet (312 m) above sea level, it is the second highest point on the Cotswold escarpment and boasts spectacular views that stretch into 16 counties. The ‘Saxon’ tower was the brainchild of Capability Brown and designed by James Wyatt in 1794 in the form of a castle. It was built for Lady Coventry between 1798–99. You can buy tickets to visit the tower.

Cotswold Voluntary Wardens worked on the site at Lybrook Farm, planting 2,000 trees, including ash, oak and beech. The Broadway Trust paid for the trees with a legacy left by Willersey woman Lucy Nash and the wardens funded a fence and gates around the site to protect the trees.

I have parked in the public car park just beyond the Cleeve Hill golf club car park and walked in a big loop around Cleeve Hill to Belas Knap and back. The car park is busy with dog walkers so less of a risk I guess.

The PARK at Elmley, which belonged to the lords of Elmley Castle, was possibly made about 1234, for in that year Walter de Beauchamp received from the king a gift of ten does and three bucks for stocking his park at Elmley. In 1298 the wood in the park was worth 4s. yearly. Thomas de Beauchamp Earl of Warwick complained in 1349 that several persons, including Robert de Amyas, parson of the church of Great Comberton, had hunted in his free chase at Elmley Castle and carried away deer. The park was enlarged about 1480 by the addition of part of the demesne land of the manor called Court Close. In 1478 William Adams was appointed keeper of the park and warren at Elmley Castle. In 1480 John Mortimer was appointed master of the game in Elmley Park, and in 1484 John Hudelston succeeded to this office, but it was granted in the following year to Richard Naufan, and in 1488 to Sir John Savage. Henry VIII appointed Sir John Savage and his son John Savage keepers of the park and warren in 1512. Walter Walshe was appointed keeper in 1528. He died in 1538, and Thomas Evans and Rowland Morton both wrote to Cromwell asking for his aid in obtaining the position, the latter saying, 'if it please the King by your Lordship's mediation to prefer me, I and mine shall stand balanced in also et basso, live and die in your Lordship's retinue.' He also begs credence for his messenger 'and will give your Lordship £20.' Neither of these suppliants received the post, which was granted to Urian Brereton. The park was included in the sale to Christopher Savage, and remained in his family until 1822, when it was sold with the castle to Colonel Thomas Henry Hastings Davies. It now belongs to Lieut.-General Henry Fanshawe Davies, J.P., D.L.

The car park for Belas Knap is about half a mile away. It is notorious for vehicle break-ins. Do not leave anything valuable in your car. I'm not paranoid. However, there are too many break-ins which could be attributed to opportunist. This car park is, without doubt, under criminal surveillance when the break-ins occur. You have been warned!

Home to the cotswold Olimpick games. Great views from the 230m summit all the way over to the malverns.
