9월 20, 2025, Agglestone Rock
also known as the "Devil's Anvil," is a large, distinctive sandstone block located on a conical hill on Godlingston Heath near the village of Studland in south Dorset, England. This impressive rock, weighing approximately 400 tonnes, is a popular landmark and a local curiosity. Local legends offer a more dramatic explanation for the rock's existence. The most famous myth says the Devil, standing on The Needles on the Isle of Wight, hurled the massive rock with the intention of hitting Corfe Castle, Bindon Abbey, or Salisbury Cathedral. However, his aim was poor, and the rock landed short of its target, where it now sits. Before it toppled over in 1970, the rock had a flat top and an anvil-like shape, which led to its nickname "the Devil's Anvil." Some folklore also suggests that the rock was a holy stone or a Druidical altar.

7월 13, 2024, Sand Dunes at Knoll Beach
The dunes in the Studland system have been built up by wind-blown sand over the past 400-500 years and at the northern end of the peninsula, dunes are still growing at a rate of around 1m per year. There are four clear dune ridges here and they make this a great site to see how dunes progress over time, a process known as succession: furthest from the beach, the older mature dunes are covered in gorse and birch scrub, heather has flourished creating a beautiful region of dune heather, and younger embryo dunes by the sea at Shell Bay still have bare, shifting sand. A section furthest away from swanage is reserved as a naturist dune area. signage is in place.

A gorgoues unspoilt beach with golden sand, dunes and views out over the English Channel. Knoll Beach sits between Shell Bay and Middle Beach and is probably the best known of the Studland Beaches. It's also the longest with a stretch of 4 miles of beach along the coastline. Public Toilets, cafe, large car park and a beach hut library.

Worbarrow Bay is a large broad and shallow bay just to the east of Lulworth Cove. The residents of Worbarrow were required to leave their homes in 1943, including the Miller family who had lived at Worbarrow for many generations. Little evidence now remains of the eight cottages and coastguard station (disbanded in 1910) that once stood close to the bay. The area is only accessible when the ranges are closed.

Owned by the National Trust, Knoll Beach is a beautiful, lengthy expanse of golden, sandy beach. Trails through the nearby dunes, heath and woodland are splendid, while the beach offers views towards Old Harry Rocks and the Isle of Wight. Studland Bay played an important role during the Second World War. Exercise Smash, a full-on dress rehearsal for the Allied Invasion of Europe, took place here in April 1944.

The sand dunes at Knoll Beach are well worth exploring for their rich wildlife, which includes sand lizards, meadow pipits and heath tiger beetles. The National Trust have been working hard to restore sand dunes right across England and Wales and Studland Bay is a key site, having become over-vegetated over the last century. The Dynamic Dunescapes project is seeking to rejuvinate these habitats for the benefit of the rare wildlife that depend on them.

6월 4, 2024, Agglestone Rock
The mysterious Agglestone Rock is an iron-rich, 400-tonne, sandstone rock formation nestled at the heart of Godlingston Heath. It's not known exactly how it came to stand in its current location and is shrouded in myths and legend. One story goes that it was hurled across from the Isle of Wight's Needles by the Devil. This explains the name Agglestone, which may mean 'Devil's Anvil'. It's also thought to have been a Druid's altar.

3월 22, 2024, Kimmeridge Bay and Clavell Tower
Kimmeridge Bay, half a mile south west of the village of Kimmeridge via a toll road, features some of the most important geology anywhere on the Jurassic Coast. It also boasts some of the area’s most accessible marine wildlife. The natural rock ledges extending out into the bay make it easy to view life on the shore and in the shallow waters, making it a wonderful location for rockpooling. The bay is also a superb location for a variety of water-based activities. The shallow, warm waters are excellent for snorkelling and diving, and are very popular during the summer months, with easy access to excellent dive sites. There is little tide and not much current, making it great for beginners, while the comparative lack of sand helps ensure visibility is often excellent. Surfing and windsurfing are also gaining popularity in the area. Kimmeridge Bay is privately owned as part of the Smedmore Estate. It is a sheltered rocky bay with rockpools. Sturdy footwear is needed for the walk to and on the shoreline. The bay is naturally sheltered and, depending on weather conditions, is often used for bathing. Dgs are allowed at Kimmeridge Bay all year round.

A stunning sandstone rock at the top of a hill with 360 views over Poole Harbour, to the Purbeck Hills and over Studland Bay as far as the Isle of Wight. Also known as the Devil’s Anvil, supposedly thrown from the Isle of Wight during one of the demon’s many tantrums. The access from the south is on a gravelly bridle way but the trail to the north is a footpath, for a good reason i.e. narrow steep gravelly trail with boardwalks and many steps.

7월 15, 2022, Woolsbarrow Hillfort
Woolsbarrow Hillfort is located in a clearing in the forests of Bloxworth Heath. The nearest town is Bere Regis, about 3+1⁄4 miles (5.2 km) to the west-northwest of the hillfort. The heath is a popular walking area and the site can be reached by public footpath. Woolsbarrow is a slight univallate hillfort on a flat-topped knoll on the plateau of Bloxworth Heath, which separates the rivers Sherford to the east and Piddle to the west. The hillfort is marked by a single rampart about 20 feet (6.1 m) below the top of the gravel knoll and covers an area of around 2+1⁄4 acres (0.91 ha). The eastern part of the hillfort has been damaged by sand and gravel extraction, but much of it survives well and has the potential for further archaeological evidence to be uncovered. It is one of only about 150 slight univallate hillforts nationally and is of national importance.

Kimmeridge Bay is small and pretty, facing south west to Portland. A site of conservation, the bay is an exceptional spot for snorkelling as well as investigating rock pools. The bay also offers good views over to Clavell Tower, a folly on the headland. Hike up to it for sweeping scenes across the bay.

An exceptionally pretty semi-circular bay, this is a wonderful place for a swim or to simply admire the stunning chalk cliffs. Worbarrow Bay is part of the Jurassic Coast UNESCO World Heritage Site and fairly out of the way, making it usually quiet. It's important to note that the bay falls within the Lulworth Firing Ranges and therefore access is limited to most weekends and public holidays.
