The MK Rose is a big round monument in Campbell Park, with lots of different height & coloured pillars arranged in concentric circles around a central point. 'Designed for commemoration, celebration and contemplation' according to the website... certainly an interesting sight if you've never seen it or found it by accident like me lol.

Public school-boy favourite for stone-skipping and a spot of fishing on the sly. We had a picnic on the bank - it's a lovely place.

Experience a sense of timelessness in Little Linford Wood in an ever-changing wildlife haven set in a sea of arable fields. A lovely spot to take some time out to enjoy the views.

Beautiful lake at the bottom of Stowe Gardens by the main entrance. There is accessible paths all the way around too.

One of the first areas of the garden that visitors may encounter is the Octagon Lake and the features associated with it. The lake was originally designed as a formal octagonal pool, with sharp corners, as part of the seventeenth century formal gardens. NOTE: The treetop walkway has not been available since May 2018, when the engineers who ensure the safety of this feature deemed it unsafe. Forestry England remain hopeful that they can secure funding to get part of this popular attraction reinstated. Great view over Campbell park

Little Linford is a significant area of ancient woodland just to the north of Milton Keynes. Its mixture of centuries-old trees, younger trees and shrubs afford a great variety of wildlife. Tree species include ash, oak, cherry and aspen, while bluebells, primroses, common spotted-orchids are amongst the plants found here. Telltale tracks and footprints hint at the presence of badgers and deer, though you'll have to visit at dusk and be extremely stealthy to spot them.

Once a medieval hunting forest, Salcey Forest is home to some majestic veteran oaks, some over 600 years old. There are three waymarked walking trails, a cafe and toilet facilities, making this an ideal day out for the family. Crucially, dogs are welcome too. There's also a play area for the little ones and a treetop walkway for those of a stern constitution.
