자연의 경이로움! 6천만 년 전 화산 폭발 후, 현무암 용암이 식으면서 수축했습니다. 수축으로 인해 수직 응력 균열이 발생했습니다. 모든 방향에서 균일한 인장력으로 인해 갈라질 때 거의 완벽한 육각형이 형성되었습니다. 약 40,000개의 현무암 기둥(일부는 최대 12m 높이!)은 대부분 육각형입니다.
