Beautiful lake at the bottom of Stowe Gardens by the main entrance. There is accessible paths all the way around too.

One of the first areas of the garden that visitors may encounter is the Octagon Lake and the features associated with it. The lake was originally designed as a formal octagonal pool, with sharp corners, as part of the seventeenth century formal gardens. NOTE: The treetop walkway has not been available since May 2018, when the engineers who ensure the safety of this feature deemed it unsafe. Forestry England remain hopeful that they can secure funding to get part of this popular attraction reinstated. Little Linford is a significant area of ancient woodland just to the north of Milton Keynes. Its mixture of centuries-old trees, younger trees and shrubs afford a great variety of wildlife. Tree species include ash, oak, cherry and aspen, while bluebells, primroses, common spotted-orchids are amongst the plants found here. Telltale tracks and footprints hint at the presence of badgers and deer, though you'll have to visit at dusk and be extremely stealthy to spot them.
