stunning views, very quiet and peaceful walk. would recommend good shoes especially for the downhill spell.

6월 1, 2024, Cow Dub Waterfall
This is called Cow Dub waterfall. It is a fascinating, beautiful place. The waterfall is very narrow and not very high, but it is multi-levelled, and when I went there, it looked like the water literally wasn’t going anywhere. It literally landed on the floor, and then seeped straight into the limestone network below.

6월 1, 2024, Gragareth Trig Point
Came up straight from the track, pretty good going over the tussocks. Nice trig pointed top but this is not the true summit. The true top is a nearby small pile of stones going east.

12월 7, 2023, Ease Gill Kirk Gorge
Ease Gill Kirk is a very beautiful gorge around the riverbed of Ease Gill. There are, in fact, two gorges here: the Lower Kirk (downstream) and Upper Kirk (upstream). You've got to love that it seems to have been named after a church. Very fitting.

12월 7, 2023, Gragareth Trig Point
Gragareth at 627m is a large summit plateau; the trig point here is at the highest point of the plateau. It's easy to walk up to it and enjoy the fine views of Ingleborough (unless you are shrouded in mist and fog, like Tom Cruise tends to be before he goes into battle!), obviously in view on the horizon. The trig point can be in a small puddle of water, so you might be unable to rest your heavy pack against it, I am afraid...

I think Kenny's above tip refers to the Hawes Water in the Lake District.

10월 17, 2023, Hawes Water
Hawes Water, sometimes called Hawes Tarn on the Gait Barrows National Nature Reserve is one of only two natural fresh-water lakes in Lancashire, along with Marton Mere. Unlike its big namesake in the Lake District it is a small lake but quite deep at 30 metres. Great centre for both birdlife and insects.

9월 8, 2023, Hawes Water
Hawes water, positioned as the easternmost lake within the Lake District, serves a crucial role as a reservoir. In 1940, the eastern side of the lake was dammed, resulting in the flooding of Mardale valley and the submersion of the village of Mardale. During periods of drought, the submerged village resurfaces, a highly anticipated event cherished by both locals and visitors.

1월 30, 2023, Clougha Pike
The trig point at this end of the ridge and the eastern edge of the Forest of Bowland stands at 413m. It offers amazing views west out over Lancaster to Morecombe Bay and north-west to the Lake District. The ridgeline from here to Ward's Stone and beyond is a great run, it can be turned into a loop from any of the local car parks.

1월 30, 2023, Ward's Stone Summit Trig Point
Ward's Stone at 561m is the highest point in the Forest of Bowland. The Trig Point and rocky outcrop make a good summit on this excellently runnable ridge from Clougha Pike in the west to Wolfhole Crag in the east. Great views all across the Forest of Bowland, out over the Irish Sea and even up into the Lake District.

9월 4, 2022, Warton Crag Road Climb
Warton Crag is a limestone outcrop with several old quarries and a small hill fort at the top. It's managed by the Wildlife Trust due to the important habitat for small animals, birds and butterflys. Warton Crag road climbs steeply out of Warton and traverses around the southwest edge of the hill before descending again to Crag Foot. It's a nice section to ride with great views across Morecombe Bay to the southern Lake District.

1월 4, 2020, Forest of Bowland National Landscape
The fells around Lancashire's Forest of Bowland showcase some of the prettiest scenery in Britain. Once dubbed the 'Switzerland of England', the area is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. You can ride winding roads through peaty moorlands and uninterrupted valleys – enjoy!
