Here the winding, rushing Fjelna river cascades beautifully, as it gushes towards the Vinjefjord. It's a fine sight on the Fjordruta between Vinjeøra and Storlisetra. As waterfalls almost always are, the spectacle is at its best after heavy rainfall.

At 1,668 m (5,472 ft), Snota is the highest peak in Surnadal Municipality and a superb objective. It can be hiked from Trollheimshytta, though you'll need to clear a day for the effort. Many believe the hike to be one of Norway's finest hikes and the mountain to be one of the most beautiful in the Trollheimen range.

Only trolls could have conjured up a tree trunk like this one. Lying in the middle of the blueberry forest, it looks as if it could last forever.

A small glacier lies at the foot of Snota. The trail is fairly easy until the last kilometer, which includes some light scrambling and a narrow path along the slope. From here, it’s about 350 metres (1,150 ft) of elevation gain to the summit, following the ridge line.
