A truly beautiful hiking trail, part of the GR Regional Route Trails. With rocky sections and through a beautiful forest. 🌳

Not so touring bike friendly anymore. Gravel and grass have almost disappeared. Deep ruts, mud ruts and large stones make driving difficult. Only for adventurous touring cyclists, but perhaps perfect for mountain bikers. Pretty steep too.

Very nice crossing path

Leo Piron, the man after whom the path is named, was a painter. He was married to a daughter of Valerius De Saedeleer. Like his father-in-law, he immortalized the landscapes of the Flemish Ardennes in his paintings. The Leo Piron Trail connects Nukerke with Zulzeke and runs along a so-called "hollow road." This was created by a natural erosion process: centuries of use of the same path, on foot or by horse and cart, loosened soil is loosened and washed away by rainwater. This causes the path to become increasingly deeper. Animals such as foxes, birds, and rodents find food and shelter there. In this small piece of forest there is a nice MTB / cyclo cross / dirt bike park. An interesting wooden camp has been built at the entrance.

Just drive on there are worse parts, otherwise you should buy a racing bike instead of ne mtb
