At this point the paved climb towards Monte Perone ends. The asperity is long and hard both for those who climb from Marciana Marina and for those who climb from Marina di Campo. The summit of Monte Perone is not far away (630 meters above sea level) and is part of the Monte Capanne chain.

Wonderful panoramic route, whose pass is just below the fortress ruin Volterraio. It goes steeply in serpentine up the mountain, but you will be rewarded with a super nice downhill, during which you can enjoy a great view of the bay of Portoferaio and Monte Capanne. The enjoyment is enhanced by a very tidy asphalt without potholes (as of 6/2019).
