The small sacred monument we encounter on Monte Gottero is perhaps the perfect place for a brief moment of reflection. A few years ago, Christiane Völkel commented on the wonderfully fitting sentence by the Italian poet Francesco Petrarch (who lived in the 14th century), "Everywhere one has heaven above oneself," as follows: "What is the use of prayer? This question moves me (...) I have found for myself the answer and the certainty that when I pray I am with the Lord, or rather, that when I pray he is often noticeably closer to me than usual. Thus, I retain the possibility of pouring out my heart to him (...) This intimacy with him makes me believe in him."

The downhill stretch of path starts from the Maesta', located on a beautiful panoramic balcony. There are no particular difficulties but you have to pay attention to 2 rock passages, one of which is exposed. The passages are clearly visible and also signposted so you can decide whether to do them by bike or by hand.

The Green Lake is located at an altitude of 1,053 meters and is particularly fascinating during the autumn, when the water level rises and the surrounding forest is tinged with shades from yellow to red, creating a spectacle of foliage. During the winter, the place is often covered in heavy snowfall. Here it crosses the Via degli Abati, an ancient road used by Piacenza monks since the 7th century, which connected the ancient monastery of Bobbio to Pontremoli. The Via degli Abati, older than the Via Francigena, was the main route to reach Rome since the year 600.

The panoramic road of Mount Cornoviglio is located between the Alpicella pass and the Casoni pass: this offers a fantastic view of the coast and the entire region.

Monte Gottero rises up to 1639 m above sea level and is part of the eastern Ligurian Apennines.

From the Foce dei Tre Confini it is exactly 223 meters in altitude that you will push, carry and hardly ride your bike. The view from the summit at 1,639 meters is fantastic and the descent that follows to the Passo della Cappelletta (1,086 meters) is a highlight for every mountain biker.
