Monument to Enrico Toti: despite losing his left leg in a 1908 train accident, he managed to enlist in the Bersaglieri Cyclists, dying in 1916 with the heroic act of throwing his crutch at the enemy. Few know that he was a cycling tourist before the time of his enlistment; despite his amputation, before enlisting, he undertook incredible bicycle journeys, crossing half of Europe (as far as Lapland) and later North Africa.

Monument to the Italian patriot who, having lost a leg in a train accident in 1908, nevertheless managed to enlist, dying in battle in 1916. The official iconography depicts his death with his final gesture of throwing his crutch at the enemy.

A fairly well-kept panoramic area, although with a series of works in progress

The recovered trench at Quota 85, also called "Enrico Toti" in honor of the famous Italian volunteer who lost his life in this place during the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo, is characterized by a deep trench in rock reinforced by concrete parapets made by departments Italians in 1916 on a previous excavation by the Austro-Hungarian army. At the nearby 85 m. altitude it is also possible to visit a monumental area characterized by an avenue with various memorial stones dedicated to the various departments that operated in these areas as well as the monument to Bersagliere Enrico Toti.

During the excavation by Italian soldiers of the Joffre trench in Monfalcone, in the first moments of the Great War, an underground cave without any outlet was discovered. The fortuitous discovery allowed the Italian troops to gain shelter against enemy cannon fire and was named “Virgin” Cave. The cave has two entrances 12 meters apart and access is facilitated by stairways carved into the rock and above the main entrance there is a plaque with a female figure holding a palm branch in her hand.
