This is an ancient way of "conserving snow" inside a specially prepared depression in the ground which allowed the pressed snow to remain for a longer period of time to be used for refrigeration purposes elsewhere.

This is a cave with restricted access on request at the speleological group of San Marco in Lamis. The entrance that provides access to 3 rooms (for a total of 120 meters) is normally made inaccessible by a gate.

It is a deciduous forest with the presence, between the convent of San Matteo and the Pinciara, of some evergreen species including the holm oak, for the arboreal plants and the ivy, the laurine grass and the butcher's broom, widespread throughout the undergrowth , among the shrubby ones.

It has a surface area of approximately 2,000 hectares and is almost divided in half by the San Marco in Lamis-Cagnano local road which runs for just over 5 km.

Excellent panoramic point from which you can enjoy a view that ranges from the Gulf of Manfredonia to the Maiella. From here you can also see the town of San Marco in Lamis and the convent of San Matteo.
