It is a very ancient, ultra-centenary wood made up of about sixty trees planted in the seventeenth century by the Barons Mollo. The trees reach up to 45 meters in height.
From here begins the Strada delle pette, in the direction of Lorica. There is no public fountain but a little further up there is the refuge of Monte Scuro, a refreshment bar
Monte Scuro is located at 1633 meters, and is part of the plateau of the Calabrian Apennines (Sila). Near the top there is a metal crucifix and a commemoration in honor of Nicola Misasi, a Calabrian writer and journalist.
The wood of Mavigliano is a special protection area falling within those of Natura 2000. On this site there is the great Mavigliano oak. One of the largest monumental English oaks in Italy
