A path, which is partly heavily blocked and surrounded by thousands of dead trees, leads from the Dreisessel to the border triangle. The Hochkammweg is a really beautiful hiking trail. There are also wonderful views of the Bohemian Forest.

The Dreisessel in the Bavarian Forest border triangle is one of the most popular excursion and hiking destinations. Well-signposted paths lead to its peaks Dreisesselfels, Hochstein and Bayerischer Plöckenstein (Czech: Trojmezná hora), offering a wonderful view of the Bavarian Forest, the Bohemian Forest and the Mühlviertel.

The Grenzsteig is closed for nature conservation reasons from 15.11. until 15.07. blocked. Please keep at it, after the Finsterauer Lusensteig there is only the further ascent over the rocks to the Lusen, which is fun and not that difficult or long. Via the Himmelstreppe (surefootedness is required here) it then goes further down towards Waldhäuser.

Since the German-Czech border runs here, you will find boundary stones with the coats of arms of the respective countries

It's totally worth the effort. A great goal.

Here at the small border square, Markfleckl, where the Czech Republic borders Germany, or Bohemia borders Bavaria, there used to be a three-country border: the Ecclesiastical Principality of Passau, the Electorate of Bavaria and the Kingdom of Bohemia. The oldest border stone dates from 1692, the middle stone from 1772 and the front one from 1844.
