From the N-332 you have a good view of the national park and the Salinas. However, the road is quite busy and you should stop to observe birds more closely or to take photos. There is a fairly wide shoulder for this.

This tower was built in the 16th century as a defense against the Berber pirates. It is part of the network of coastal towers that extends throughout the entire municipality of Elche.

The Santa Pola Salt Flats are an important natural park in the Valencian Community, encompassing the municipalities of Santa Pola and Elche (Baix Vinalopó). The park was officially declared a natural park by the Valencian government on December 12, 1988, and is now one of the most important protected areas in the region. The area is characterized by a diverse landscape: vast salt pans, freshwater lagoons, dunes, and coastal areas provide habitat for numerous animal and plant species. Of particular note is the importance of bird species, including flamingos, black-winged stilts, redshanks, and various heron species, which regularly rest or breed here. The combination of salt production, wetlands, and coastal landscapes makes the park an outstanding example of the harmonious coexistence of humans and nature. There's also a visitor center and the Salt Museum, which offers insights into the history of salt production and the ecological significance of the park. The Salinas de Santa Pola can be divided into two areas, the salt pans on the one hand and the swamp area on the other. The fauna and flora of the Salinas de Santa Pola nature reserve have adapted perfectly to the humidity and high salt content. A large number of flamingos have settled in this area. Crossing the road doesn't work at all. On the one hand there are cordoned off company premises here, and on the other hand you are in a nature reserve! So only asphalt and simply follow the N-332 road. But you can pull over to the right here and there and take photos.
