The Grasburg is not only the largest ruin in the canton of Bern, but also a real eye-catcher high above the lively Sense. The rock falls vertically on its outer walls and the castle complex is lined with dense forest. Below the castle there is a pretty barbecue area and two more above in the former courtyard. Since the building fabric is in poor condition, large parts of the Grasburg will remain wrapped in scaffolding until autumn 2023. The path to the ruins leads steeply downhill and a steep staircase then leads up to the castle. Hiking poles can be useful.

The waterfall is located about 200 meters behind the witch's house and the fire pit in the forest and can be reached with a short detour from the lake tour in about 10 minutes. The amount of water falling varies enormously, but of course the waterfall is most impressive after a heavy rainy day.

During the cold season, the fantastic ice palaces are always created here for a few weeks. The Ice Palaces first appeared in 1980. For the first few years, however, this spectacle took place about 300 meters away from the current location, opposite the large car park on the slope near the cantonal road. Until 2017 the builder was Neuhaus Karl (Kari), after which Schwarzsee Tourismus took over the task. The ice palaces are really staged with colorful light and are therefore only open in the evenings. It has a large parking lot and a Buvette on site. The ice and light spectacle is located directly on the Sense hiking trail from Schwarzsee to Zollhaus. So if you want, you can combine the whole thing with a night hike. Don't forget the headlamp 😉. Gypsera am Schwarzsee car park is 3.3 km away. Rohrmatta car park at the entrance to Schwarzsee by the playground 1.8 km.
