Highest Saddle (1347 m) along the gravel road from St. Arnaud to Hanmer Springs. Part of the Road is in the private Rainbow Station and is closed for public access most of the time of the year. It is possible to ask for access when the road is closed by e-mail. This requires some anticipation. Usually the permision is granted to cyclists.

Nice views and moderate climb. There is even something called a passport plate. But I didn't find an official name for the pass 😄

As you climb around Lagoon Saddle you have a wonderful view over the valley and towards Arthur's Pass

One of the most beautiful passes on Te Araroa... but the ascent and descent should not be underestimated

Browning Pass / Nōti Raureka is on the main divide of the Southern Alps about 18 kilometers due west of the town of Arthur's Pass. From the valley floor, the route climbs about 300 meters to reach the pass itself. Just north of the pass is Lake Browning / Whakarewa at an elevation of 4,000 feet. (See Wikipedia)

Nice views from the saddle. You can get there via the Pyramid Track. The path to the summit in the east is not recommended, as you have to go over private grounds.
