Janet's Cabin is one of five backcountry huts managed by the Summit Huts Association. You can book a bunkbed or even the whole cabin (if available). The hut was completed in 1990. Four bedrooms sleep a maximum of 20 guests in winter, and 14 in summer. If you like mountain lounging, you’ll feel at home on the large front deck. Francie's Cabin is one of five backcountry huts managed by the Summit Huts Association. You can book either a bunk bed or even the entire hut and a spend a cozy night close to the Crystal Lake Basin. At 9,000 feet and situated next to the Dillon Reservoir, Heaton Bay Camp ground is a wonderful base for outdoor adventures in the area.

The Boreas Pass Section House was built in 1882 as a settlement for the railroad men and their families that worked in the area. These buildings were carefully restored in 1997. You can actually reserve this hut for $40/person/night up to 12 people.

Boreas Pass tops out at 11,481 feet and connects Como to Breckenridge. Boareas Pass was the nation's highest narrow-gauge railroad, running from 1872 to 1938. The pass was then converted to an automobile route in 1952.

Francie’s Cabin was built in 1994. The cabin is named for Frances Lockwood Bailey, a former resident of Breckenridge who died in a tragic plane crash in 1989. Francie’s Cabin has become the most visited hut in Colorado. It is a rented cabin, so please respect the privacy of the current tenants.

The dirt section of Boreas Pass is my favorite. On 6/14/20 the road was gated, so foot and bike "traffic" only. Really nice railroad grade climb to tree line, past the historic Baker's Tank to the "Boss's" hut at the top of the pass. Read all the interpretive signs, cool Colorado railroad history!
