At the Oberalp Pass at 2,044 meters, not only is the obligatory "passport photo" waiting at the Oberalp Pass sign, but also the only lighthouse in the Alps. It comes from Rotterdam, where the original lighthouse can be found in the Maritime Museum, which once stood in Hoek van Holland, at the mouth of the Rhine into the North Sea - thus completing the circle from the source to the mouth.

The Oberalpsee, located at the top of the pass between Sedrun and Andermatt, offers a peaceful retreat for amateur fishermen, who can obtain licenses at the Piz Calmot restaurant. Enthusiasts can enjoy fishing moments at sunrise in a peaceful atmosphere. For hikers, a walk to the western end of the lake reveals a small dam used for electricity generation. For a complete experience, the hike can continue to Nätschen, followed by a return by train, offering a lovely way to explore this picturesque mountain region.

The Oberalp pass connects the cantons of Uri and Grisons. The pass, which is located at 2,046 meters above sea level, has been open to vehicles since the mid-19th century.

In spring the lake is still covered with snow

Attention marching time is of course not 40 min but approx. 3 hours.

The lake is dammed by a planted earth dam 155 meters high and 540 meters long. At its base the dam is 700 meters wide. A total of 9.3 million cubic meters of material was used. The dam can be visited. On this tour you take the funicular. The ride on the old winch railway is very adventurous and an experience.

The Göscheneralpsee lies at 1,792 meters and has a maximum depth of a good 100 meters. The lake's massive dam is considered the highest stone dam (a planted earth dam) in Switzerland. You can walk around the lake on a hike. While the front part is rather rocky, the back part is a moorland landscape.
