Near Santo Tomás and Binigaus there are several wetlands and marsh areas, which are a paradise for biodiversity. These wetlands are part of the island's ecological network and are home to migratory birds, turtles and native flora.

Binigaus Beach is one of the most spectacular and unspoilt beaches in the south of Menorca. It is located near Santo Tomás, but unlike the latter, it has no urbanization or services on the sand, which makes it a quiet corner to enjoy nature.

The history of Ferrerías dates back to the Talayotic era, as demonstrated by the archaeological remains found in the area. During Muslim domination, the place was an important agricultural center. Later, in the 18th century, important mining activity was developed in the area, mainly iron extraction, which gave rise to the name of the town. The main festival of Ferrerías is usually celebrated in honor of San Bartolomé, the patron saint of the town. This festival takes place on August 24 of each year. During the festival, various cultural and religious events are organized, such as processions, solemn masses, concerts, traditional dances, fireworks shows and activities for children. During the Ferrerías festival, you can observe various local traditions, such as the exhibition of purebred Menorcan horses, shows of skilled riders performing acrobatics, and exhibitions of traditional carriages. The Cami de Cavalls is a great long-distance hiking trail close to nature! If you love nature, this is the right place for you. You are almost always alone, you don't see any rubbish lying around, you only meet day-trippers near the bathing bays. The path is often demanding and steep, so sturdy shoes are recommended and you should have enough to drink with you. It's especially fun to walk the cami over a longer stretch.
