The Paniewo Lock is the ninth lock along the 61st km of the Biebrza River and the only two-chamber lock on the Augustów Canal in Poland. The difference in elevation between Lake Paniewo and Lake Krzywe is 6.3 m.

Driving along the western shore of Lake Serwy, we travel on an asphalt road among wonderful forest vegetation from the town of Sucha Rzeczka to the town of Serwy. Then it depends on which direction we will go.

The Paniewo Lock, one of 18 on the Augustów Canal, a facility recognized as a Historic Monument. It was created in the 19th century as a result of Prussian economic restrictions to provide a water route for transporting goods along the Vistula to the Baltic Sea. Today, it works great as one of the most interesting kayaking routes in Poland.

It is fun to see this beautiful lock, built partly in wood, working. Especially when kayakers use it.
