A steep path leads to the peak - from there you have a fantastic view of the basalt mountains of the Tapolca Basin all the way to Lake Balaton.

The 393-meter-high Gulács is one of the basalt mountains of the Tapolca Basin. A well-built path, the Lóczy Lajos Road, leads to the summit, and is easily accessible from the settlement of Nemesgulács, located west of the mountain.

The path up is very overgrown and not signposted, the view is not worth mentioning as you can see from the pictures.

The area is very barren and rocky, and the steep climb that Komoot planned up was surprising (you had to push a bike). There was no such problem going down. The top of the mountain itself doesn't have many extras, except that we can find the KDP seal on the three-legged pole. The view would be a panoramic view if they hadn't put a repeater tower here too.

As strange as it may sound, Öreg Futóné is one of the funniest named peaks in the Bakony, with its 576m. But not far from here there is Kis Futóné and if that wasn't enough of a joke: there is also Márkus Szekrénye 😀😀😀 . Don't expect a big bang, because there is only a collapsed geodesic measuring tower at the peak, since 1983. In theory, there should be a forest rest area here, but I didn't find it. So I left Öreg Futóné quite quickly 🚵‍♂️

It's not too difficult to climb up here yourself. And what awaits you up there is a miracle itself: a panorama!

At the top of the asphalt road between Hárskút and Lókút, there is a small parking lot to the right of the Water Works, and following the Red Trail (KDP) we can reach the lookout, which takes about 20 minutes by bike. The forest road is steep in places, and steep in places. The lookout is located on a beautiful clearing on the top of the mountain (646m), surrounded by forest tables and a campfire site. The lookout is at least 4 stories high, and it can be said that it offers one of the most beautiful panoramic views of the Bakony. You can see Várpalota, Veszprém and Lake Balaton - at an unparalleled angle, but also Kab Hill, Hajagok, and further away Kőris Hill with the characteristic radar on top. Directly below us is Lókút. This place is a real experience, nothing disturbs the 360° panoramic view! I recommend the perhaps lesser-known Bakony peak to all nature lovers.

At the top of Kőris-hegy, you can find the lookout point on the National Blue Trail Line (also Stamp Place), a few meters from the parking lot, which is next to the radar station. Because of the radar, we don't have a panoramic view, but what we can see is beautiful: Vértes, the Kisalföld, the Balaton highlands, Somlóhegy are all looming in front of us. You can also go up by bike, either from the direction of Zirc or Bakonybél, on a relatively tolerable quality asphalt road. Let's be prepared that the asphalt road from Bakonybél to the summit is at least 10 km long, and even on foot it is about 6 km. Both tours have a strong difference in level, not by chance: we climb to the highest point of Bakony.
