They are generally used by shepherds for overnight stays, especially in remote or inaccessible places or, in other cases, as a storage place for food and/or tools useful for working in the countryside.

Pinnettas are old pastoral constructions, generally with a circular stone base and covered with branches or reeds; more rarely, as in this case, the roof is also made of the same stone as the base.

Beautiful surroundings. Note: the starting point at Refugio di Mare is not accessible by car; it's an hour's walk from the parking lot. For €5 one-way per person, you can take the taxi that also transports hotel guests to the starting point. We simply walked and picked up a section of the trail halfway. Tip: There's a lovely low route with a steep climb at the end (good hiking boots are essential!) along the beach, and a higher route from the Refugio back to the parking lot. Including a detour to the viewpoint, this makes a total of about seven kilometers. Highly recommended!

At this hut in the heart of the mountains, you'll find some information about the nearby Nuragic complex. Since the hut is located next to a parking lot, it's a good starting point for a short mountain hike to the Nuragic complex. There are also plenty of rest stops.

A few steps from the sea, on the north-western coast of Sardinia, near Castelsardo, International Camping Valledoria is located in a pine forest of junipers and pines. It is worth stopping off for a drink or to enjoy a full meal, with a great atmosphere and a very beautiful view. There are also overnight accommodation options. It can be reached either after a hike through the Parco Naturale Regionale di Porto Conte (entrance fee is payable at the start of the park, but this also applies to various facilities) or with electric vehicles that drive you through the park.
