Currently, the road is a complete construction site (the "road" is being widened), and this will likely take quite a while. Many sections are pure gravel!

A beautiful hike with a fantastic view. The ascent is quite strenuous, especially in the Albanian summer heat, but doable. However, the way down is (as of August 2025) difficult to find, especially the last half. The marked route only partially corresponds to the conditions on site in this section. Our tip: use the sentry towers as a guide – it's easy to walk along them again. Otherwise, the steeper slate slopes are very slippery, but with a little caution, it's manageable. If you don't want to take any risks, it's better to simply retrace your steps (you won't miss any special views).

We didn't quite understand why the Blue Eye was so popular. We found the area 300m before the Blue Eye (by the bridge) much nicer and more relaxing. Nevertheless, despite the freezing, wet temperatures, many people lingered below, and some even dared to jump into the icy water.

The road is indeed terrible but it offers a beautiful view on the lake.
