One of the most interesting peaks on Medvednica. Good trails to the foothills, an interesting climb over rocks.

The mountain house "Risova jazbina" is located 10 minutes' walk north of the mountain house "I. Pačkovski" ("Puntijarka") on the very top of the mountain named Puntijarka (between the radar station and the state hydro-meteorological station). By the way, the peak of Puntijarka at 990 m above sea level is the second highest peak of Medvednica.

10월 4, 2023, Sljeme Summit and TV Tower
Sljeme, at 3,396 feet (1,035 m), is Medvednica’s highest point ('sljeme' means 'summit' in Croatian). An icon of Zagreb, it's adorned by the OIV Tower, which is home to a panoramic observation deck for views across the Zagorje region and even as far as Slovenia's mountains. There are plenty of places to eat and drink in the vicinity of the summit too.

Have a beer at Medvednica! Enjoy the view! Be BEWARE of downhill bikers who do not care a thing about creatures walking on two or more legs!

Today, Tepčina špica is a peak completely overgrown with forest at an altitude of 636 m (at least that's what the maps say, while a slightly higher number is written on the informative mountaineering board located at the peak). There are the remains of a medieval fortress. They include an elongated plateau today covered with dense forest. In the southwestern and southeastern part of the plateau, there are elevated parts where insignificant remains of the foundations of the wall of an unknown fortification can be seen in the bushes and in the forest. In the southwestern part of the plateau are the remains of the foundations of a stone polygonal tower (15 meters in diameter) and an earthen embankment about 30 meters long. Considering the remains of the ruins, it is assumed that the fort had a masonry main defensive tower which was additionally fortified with wooden palisades. This peak is located at the very end of the hiking trail 63 which leads from Laza Stubički. Somewhat further below Tepčina špica, trail 63 ends at a large intersection with trails 33 and 34. http://www.medvednica.info/2010/10/tepcina-spica.html

The highest peak of Medvednica is the 1033 m high Sljeme. On it there is a television tower and a viewing platform to the Zagorje. Sljeme is also the most popular excursion destination on Medvednica and many people experience the two terms Medvednica and Sljeme as synonyms. Medvednica was once the bear habitat (Croatian Medved), hence its name. Bear bones have been found in the Veternica cave in the western part. The underground channels of the Veternica are over 7 km long. This cave is one of the longest in Croatia.

Sljeme is the name for the highest peak of the Medvednica mountain and for the ridge that resembles the ridge of a roof because it steeply separates the southern Zagreb from the northern Zagorje slope. The top itself has the shape of a plateau, on the edge of which stands a television tower, clearly visible from both Zagreb and Zagorje. The peak itself is located 50 m further along a well-maintained path that leads to the upper stations of the newer three-seater cable car and the "anchor" on Činovnička livada. At the top is also the house of the HGSS a Zagreb station, several ski huts and catering facilities Vidikovac and Zlatni mevdjev. On the northern edge of the peak is the station of the old ski lift with a viewpoint oriented towards Zagorje Coordinates: N 45° 53' 57.4'' E 15° 56' 50.6'' Mark: The metal mark of the peak is on the advertising board near the television tower at the very top, and the other mark is in the nearby restaurant Zlatni mevjed. Approaching: The top of Medvednica is extremely easily accessible from all sides - both for mountaineers and hikers. Tomislav's house (10' from the top) and the upper station of the Sljemen cable car (5' from the top) can be reached by car. due to dilapidation, the cable car is no longer in operation, but is replaced by a regular bus line that starts at the Mihaljevac terminal in the northern part of Zagreb. Several dozens of marked hiking trails lead to Sljemen from Zagreb and from the Zagorje side. The most popular climbs are the Leustek route from Tunel in Dolje or Gračan, the Bikčević path via Puntijarka, and the climbs from Šestin via Kraljičina zdenca and Medvedgrad. The easiest is the shortest of these climbs along the Leustek path.
