Mostly earthen mounds remain of the original Livonian Order Castle built by the Teutonic Knights on the strategic riverbank. There's now a museum and several monuments in the park. A trail with benches and restaurants offers prime views of the river, bridge, and waterfalls. A sculpture of a male is standing on the edge of the roof of a 3-story art gallery.

Nurmuiža Castle (Nurmhusen) is a former vassal castle of the Livonian Order in Lauciene, built in the second half of the 16th century. [1] Until the land reform of 1920, the castle belonged to the Firks family. It is the largest mansion complex that has survived to this day and is currently located in the municipality of Laucienes, Talsu County.
