From the Hofgarten and Herzoggarten, the path descends towards the St. Marien Children's Hospital. Towards the city center, you can access the Bernlochnerschluchtweg, a sunken lane that leads to Marienplatz and the city center.

Due to the periglacial overprinting, the valley cross-section is clearly asymmetrical with flat slopes exposed to the northeast and steep valley sides sloping to the southwest. A beautiful hiking section in the valley and meadow at the end of which is the small hamlet of Salzdorf with its milk filling station.
