The ruins of the hilltop castle are located at 736 m above sea level east of Henndorf near the ascent to the "Heimkehrerkreuz" and the Große Plaike (1031 m). The path is part of the "Eiszeitrundweg" (Ice Age circular path). The ruins are very hidden and cannot be seen from a distance. You will also only find information signs shortly before them. Note! Riding a bike is prohibited!!!

Seeburg Castle consists of a four-storey main building, a castle chapel and a defensive wall with four round corner towers.

This beautiful building from the 15th century once served as the administrative headquarters and country residence of nobles. Today the private university Schloss Seeburg is located here. You will also find a Kneipp facility and an audio guide station for the Seenland Pilgrimage Trail here.

The palace complex at the foot of the Koglberg was built in a spacious park in place of a medieval castle around 1710 on behalf of Franz Ferdinand Count Khevenhüller and according to plans by the Linz master builder Johann Michael Prunner.

Apart from the moto ... 😷😉 the Seeburg is worth a detour. You should definitely visit the inside.

Here you have two options for small detours. On the one hand, a trail branches off here to the ruins of Wildenegg Castle, which was built in the 12th century. Unfortunately, there are really only a few small foundations left. Nevertheless, this place offers a very nice atmosphere due to its past. To get to the ruins you have to climb a few steps. At the top there is also the possibility to take a break. Alternatively, it is also worth rolling to the west bank of the Irrsee, which also offers a wonderful backdrop for a short break.
