Λευκά Όρη Ανατολικού Σελίνου Και Σφακίων‬에서 가장 멋진 ‪6‬개의 산 정상

Caution: some sections are dangerous and the trail crosses several scree slopes. Do not venture out alone and avoid in the rain. We are used to mountain hikes, even demanding ones, but we were surprised by the danger of this one (hike carried out at the end of September 2025 in rain and wind / we stopped at the pass).

Very demanding hike from Agia Roumeli to this point (E4). Allow 1.5 hours for the ascent, taking care (landslides, slippery slopes)

The path from the forepeak to the actual summit is a bit more challenging. There are some small climbing sections. Marked with red dots.

The path is rocky, but well maintained and occasionally marked with E4 poles and trail signs. On the Afchenas saddle, 1,706 m, the E4 and the path to the summit separate. When you reach the stone pyramid, this is only the forepeak. The actual summit can be identified by a metal pole (remains of the summit cross). Snow fields are still to be expected here in May.

From the bend in the road, an inconspicuous path leads directly up the small valley to the first viewing hill in front of the hut. It is a little rough, but a much more interesting option than trudging up the road. From the flat summit, there is a sensational view of the Samaria Gorge and the Gigilos, but also across to the Psari. There are also beautiful flowers up there and in the valley in spring.

From the saddle, follow the metal poles of the E4 - the Komoot map shows a different path - so be careful and always follow the sparse markings and the poles. The path actually goes a little south along the left of the ridge, then diagonally up and then crosses the slope again. The path does NOT go up the ridge around the summit plateau. No matter. - so you need mountain boots and a bit of climbing experience - surefootedness and it also goes down quite a bit to the left in places. So falling down would be stupid...

Fabulous view of the Omalos plateau and down to the south. Oh, what am I saying - 360 degrees - simply amazing. The detour from the E4 up is practically pathless, rocky and best to go up the ridge. You don't have to climb anywhere but it is rocky and steep. But it's worth it.
