The path to this hut is often not easy to find and walk. But there are beds, cooking facilities, and water in and around the hut.

In the Greleska site of the White Mountains, an observatory for the endangered Cretan ibex has been operating this beautiful stone building since 1999. There is a reception, information room, exhibition and an accommodation room for the guard. The area is very beautiful with cypress trees and views of the gorge of Agia Irini. The only serviced hut in western Crete at an altitude of 1,680 metres. Even in summer, the temperatures up here are pleasant, below 20 degrees. There is a gravel track up, but walking is more exciting. The path begins right at the entrance to the Samaria Gorge and later leads into the gravel track. It is around 4 km and 300 metres in altitude to overcome. Great view of the Samaria Gorge from the top.

It is probably only used occasionally. It's a shame that such a beautiful building in this great place seems abandoned. The view from below the building into the Agini Irina valley is wonderful.
