The Mt Jefferson Wilderness has experienced fire in the past few years, as well as increasing pressure from visitors. You'll need an overnight permit to camp in Jefferson Park, even if you have a PCT permit. Several of the trailheads into this area are still closed from fire damage, so be sure to check out the information from the US Forest Service before heading to this beautiful place.

Detroit Lake State Park is a scenic park/campground on the shore of a forest-lined canyon in the Cascade Mountains. The nine-mile-long lake is a popular destination for boating, fishing, and swimming. On the shores, there are volleyball areas, basketball courts, and a visitor center that provides information on the area and serves refreshments.

Located in the Bull of the Woods Wilderness, there are two lakes in close proximity to each other. Both the Upper Twin Lake and Lower Twin Lake are pretty similar to each other, with refreshing blue water and dense tree aprons. Some people have had troubles finding the lower lake as there isn't the best signage. There is an obvious fork in the trail that takes you there, but the trail itself is not very well maintained.

The Willamette Vision Education Trail is a flat, smooth trail that makes a loop within the state park. This path is disconnected from the other trails in the park unless you go a little bit on the road. The trail basically just circles a big field, with a small section next to Mission Lake.

If you are out of water, Jude Lake is a good source to fill your bottles. Otherwise just have a look at this idyllic lake.

Head Lake is located just north of Olallie Lake Resort. The blue waters might invite you for a dip since there is no swimming in Olallie Lake.

Opal Pool, also known as Opal Pool Falls, is a swimming hole and waterfall along Opal Creek. This is one of fifty waterfalls within Opal Creek Wilderness.

This Wildlife Refuge sits close to Willamette River, working as an important winter habitat for migratory birds, especially the Dusky Canada Goose, and it is also home to many native species. The refuge features a platform trail system that offers views of the wetland, from where you can observe the wildlife. The Ankeny Hill Nature Center offers education programs for the community.
