The Albergue Casa Alternativo is one of our favorites on the Caminho Portugués. Lots of space to relax and very good value for money. Absolutely rustic "hippie" hostel. The owner speaks good English. Registering by phone is therefore easy. A bed in a 16-bed room costs €10, including dinner and breakfast (June 2022). There is another emergency room with another 16 mattresses on the floor. So there was dinner at the table with 32 pilgrims...unforgettable. The hostel is coordinated by Petro. He too (optically) a unique piece from the 70s :-) Dinner is always the same: spaghetti with tomato sauce, tortilla and mixed salad. Plus red and white wine. All very tasty prepared. We cover and wash up together...an experience too! Breakfast is extensively available in the kitchen and everyone takes what they need and starts the day as they wish. There are 2 showers per gender and a single shower in the main house. There are no showers in the annex building. Therefore, the pilgrims have to walk from the mattress camp to the main building. Thank you, dear Petro, for the 2 great days with you. I will never forget this hostel!!!
